Dr. Shelton's Story

Dr. Mary Kate Shelton was born and raised in the panhandle of Florida. She graduated from Auburn University with a degree in Biomedical Sciences and then moved to Houston to pursue her calling of dentistry at the University of Texas School of Dentistry. It was in dental school where her passion for helping children create positive dental experiences took root.

Dr. Shelton completed a pediatric dentistry residency through the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston where she trained at Texas Children’s Hospital and Children’s Memorial Hermann hospital. Through her residency, she obtained extensive training in caring for infants and children with special healthcare needs, dental trauma, and sedation dentistry. In addition to her certificate in pediatric dentistry, Dr. Shelton obtained a Master of Science in Dentistry degree for her research exploring behavior management techniques in Pediatric Dentistry.

Dr. Shelton is an active member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and Houston Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. Through organized dentistry and continuing education, Dr. Shelton is committed to staying at the forefront of advancements in pediatric dentistry.

Beyond dentistry, Dr. Shelton has been married to her husband, Chase, for three wonderful years. She enjoys spending time with friends and family, serving in her church, reading, and cheering on the Auburn Tigers.
